Privacy policy

TestimonyRoom is a place where believers share testimonies of what God has done. This page explains what we collect, why, and the choices you have. TestimonyRoom is run by an individual developer, who is the controller of your data and can be reached at victorabidoyeng@gmail.com.
What we collect
- Account details if you sign up: your name, email address and a password (stored by our sign-in provider as a hash, never in plain text).
- What you share: testimony titles, text, category, channel, photos you choose to add, and how you want your name shown (full name, first name or anonymous).
- Activity: reactions you give, reports you make, and the review decisions on your testimonies.
- Feedback: answers to the feedback form are anonymous. An email is only kept if you choose to leave one.
- Technical data: basic logs such as IP address and browser type, kept by our hosting provider for security and troubleshooting. We don’t use advertising cookies. Apart from the cookie that keeps you signed in, we set analytics cookies only if you accept them (see Analytics below).
Analytics
With your permission we use Google Analytics to count visits and see which pages and testimonies are read. It sets cookies (names starting with _ga) and sends the page you view, your approximate location and device details to Google. We don’t use it for advertising. Nothing is sent to Google until you press Accept on the cookie notice, and you can change your mind at any time with Cookie settings in the footer. Declining does not limit what you can do on the site.
How we use it
- To run the service: show testimonies, let you manage and delete yours, and send account emails such as sign-up confirmation.
- To keep the community safe: every testimony outside a church channel is checked by a person, and channel testimonies by that channel’s admins. An AI system may read a testimony first to give them a recommendation and to write a short headline and summary. A person always makes the final decision.
- To improve TestimonyRoom, using the feedback you choose to give.
What is public
An approved public testimony, its photo and the name you chose to show (or “Anonymous”) can be read by anyone, including people who aren’t signed in, and may be found by search engines. Your email address is never shown. Private testimonies are visible only to you and the people who review them.
Who we share data with
We don’t sell your data. We use these providers to run the service, and they process data on our behalf:
- Supabase for sign-in, the database and photo storage.
- Heroku for hosting.
- Anthropic, whose AI reads testimony text to recommend a review decision and to write headlines and summaries. We don’t send your email address.
- Google, if feedback is copied into a Google Sheet (feedback is anonymous), and for Google Analytics once you accept it.
We may disclose information if the law requires it or to protect people from harm.
How long we keep it
We keep your account and testimonies until you delete them or ask us to. Deleting a testimony removes it from the site. Backups may keep copies for a short time afterwards.
Your choices and rights
You can edit or delete your testimonies from My testimonies. You may also ask us to access, correct, export or erase your data, or to close your account, by emailing victorabidoyeng@gmail.com. If you live in the EU/EEA or UK, you also have the right to object to or restrict processing and to complain to your local data protection authority. We process your data to provide the service you asked for, and on our legitimate interest in keeping it safe.
Children
TestimonyRoom is not meant for children under 16. If you believe a child has given us data, contact us and we will delete it.
Changes
If we change this policy we will update the date above. Questions? Email victorabidoyeng@gmail.com.
